The collection that this image comes from was created while spending a summer in New Mexico. I blissfully spent the summer studying Native American Art History, hiking, camping, and painting. Like Native Hawaiians, the Southwestern Native American Tribes live in close connection and in reverence to the natural world. Painting the landscapes of the desert and forest were a study in kilo, or observation, and quiet, connected meditation.
