Mauna is Mountain in Hawaiian Language. This is a very common motif in Hawaiian design, but has a particularly special meaning at this point in history. Many Hawaiians are fighting to keep our most sacred Mauna, Maunakea, free from another foreign telescope. Specifically the largest telescope in the world which would cause devastating damage to the people, the mountain and the surrounding environment.
